The Gustavus Adolphus women’s swimming and diving team compiled 1431.5 points to take first place at the CSB Triangular on Saturday in Collegeville, Minn. The Gusties registered 26 top-three finishes and eight event wins at the meet. The College of Saint Benedict came in second with 993 points and Luther College finished third with 721.5 points.
Individually, Carley Mosher, Alissa Tinklenberg, Laura Drake, and Sarah Hund turned in first place finishes for the Gusties. Mosher led the way by winning both the 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle with times of 59.99 and 5:21.45, respectively. Tinklenberg took first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.47, second in the 200 backstroke (2:15.00) and third in the 200 IM. Drake won the 200 breaststroke (3:33.65) and finished second in the 200 IM (2:19.02), while Hund took first place in the 50 freestyle (25.30).
A total of 13 different Gustavus swimmers recorded top-three finishes in individual races. Anna Eames, Dajana Vidovic, Anika Erickson, and Marnie Luke all added a second and third place finish. Eames finished runner up in the 1000 freestyle (11:21.45) and third in the 200 butterfly. Vidovic took second in the 100 freestyle (55.29) and third in the 500 free. Erickson contributed in the breaststroke races, taking second in the 200 (2:37.06) and third in the 100. Marnie Luke rounded out the group by taking runner-up in the 200 butterfly (2:21.63) and third in the 400 IM.
Steph Korba and Brogan Barr added Gustavus’s other second place finishes. Korba in the 100 butterfly (1:02.14) and Barr in the 400 IM (4:54.39). Quinn Arnold finished third in the 200 back, as did Kelsey Lucia in the 100 freestyle.
Alicia Alvarado was the top Gustavus diver of the meet, placing second in both the one and three-meter diving with scores of 181.55 and 207.75, respectively.
The Gusties swept the meet’s relay events by winning all three races. The 200 medley relay team of Mosher, Erickson, Korba, and Lucia won with a time of 1:52.66, while the team of Tinklenberg, Drake, Kate Hellie, and Vidovic placed second. Lucia, Serena Elthon, Vidovic, and Hund combined to win the 200 free relay (1:39.14), while Mosher, Lucia, Vidovic, and Hund won the 400 free relay (3:39.56).
The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team will travel to St. Paul, Minn. on Friday, December 3 to compete in the Falcon Invite. Meet time is TBD.
