Women’s Hockey Edges Bethel 2-0 To Sweep Weekend Series

The Gustavus women’s hockey team used a second period goal by Gracie Olson and a third period goal by Lindsey Hjelm to slip past Bethel 2-0 at Fogerty Arena in Blaine on Saturday afternoon. Danielle Justice posted her third shutout of the season as the Gusties improved to 6-0-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the MIAC.

After the two teams battled through a scoreless first period, Olson scored what would turn out to be the gamewinner at 2:19 of the second period.  Whitney Schaff and Tam Meuwissen were credited with assists.  The Gusties led 1-0 after two periods of play.

Lindsey Hjelm clinched the win for Gustavus with an empty net goal with 2o seconds left in the game.  Amanda Cartony picked up the assist.

Justice registered 19 saves and was credited with the win in goal.  Gustavus out-shot Bethel 31-19.
