Women’s Hockey Skates Past Concordia 8-4 In Moorhead

The Gustavus women’s hockey team remained in the hunt for its sixth consecutive MIAC regular season title with an 8-4 win over Concordia in Moorhead on Friday evening. Lindsey Hjelm and Meagan Wanecke both scored twice for Gustavus, while Emily Klatt picked up the win in goal.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team remained in the hunt for its sixth consecutive MIAC regular season title with an 8-4 win over Concordia in Moorhead on Friday evening.  Lindsey Hjelm and Meagan Wanecke both scored twice for Gustavus, while Emily Klatt picked up the win in goal.

Lindsey Hjelm scored twice and Meagan Wanecke once to help the Gusties build a 3-1 lead after the first period of play. Gustavus broke the game open with four second period goals as Alyssa Gaulrapp scored at the 5:39 mark, Kirsten Peterson at the 14:05 mark, Kayla Ingebretson at the 16:09 mark, and Allie Schwab at the 19:49 mark.  Ingebretson’s goal was the first of her collegiate career.  Gustavus led 7-3 after two periods of play.

Meagan Wanecke wrapped up the scoring for the Gusties as she netted her second goal of the game just 33 seconds into the third period.  The Cobbers added another goal late in the third making the final score 8-4.

Gustavus out-shot Concordia 51-25.  Goaltender Emily Klatt registered 21 saves and improved to 4-2-2 on the season in goal for the Gusties.
