Women’s Hockey Rallies To Tie UW-River Falls

The Gustavus women’s hockey team opened its 2009-10 season with a 3-3 tie against UW-River Falls on Friday night in River Falls. Allie Schwab scored twice in the final six minutes including a goal with 16 seconds left in regulation play to help the Gusties rally from a 3-1 deficit and tie the Falcons.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team opened its 2009-10 season with a 3-3 tie against UW-River Falls on Friday night in River Falls.  Allie Schwab scored twice in the final six minutes including a goal with 16 seconds left in regulation play to help the Gusties rally from a 3-1 deficit and tie the Falcons.  Neither team could score in the five minute overtime and the result was a 3-3 tie.

The Gusties took a 1-0 lead in the game on a goal by Tam Meuwissen at 14:33 of the second period.  It was the first goal of Meuwissen’s collegiate career.

The Falcons responded with three goals in the first nine minutes of the third period and appeared ready to break the game open, however Schwab responded with two late goals to give the #2 Gusties a tie with the #6 Falcons.

Danielle Justice played 48 minutes in goal making 13 saves and allowing three goals.  Emily Klatt played 16:04 in the nets at the end of regulation and in overtime and made one save.

The Gusties will play at UW-Superior on Tuesday, November 17 at 7:00 pm.
