The Gustavus men’s and women’s tennis teams have been chosen to host NCAA Regional Tournaments this weekend. The men’s regional will take place Friday and Saturday, while the women’s tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday.
The men’s regional will consist of teams from Gustavus, Carthage, the University of Chicago and Coe. All matches will be played at the Brown Outdoor Courts located on the west side of campus next to the Swanson Tennis Center (#41 on the campus map). The tournament will begin at noon on Friday with the University of Chicago (18-9) playing Carthage (19-5). Gustavus (26-4) will play Coe (23-8) in the second match beginning at 3:30 pm. The winners of the two matches will play on Saturday at noon in the regional championship. The regional champion will advance to the NCAA Team Championship which will take place May 18-23 in Santa Cruz, California.
The women’s regional will consist of teams from Gustavus, Carthage, and Carleton. All matches will be played at the Brown Outdoor Courts located on the west side of campus. The tournament will begin at 3:30 pm on Saturday with the Carleton (19-5) playing Carthage (20-6). The winner will play Gustavus (29-2) on Sunday at noon in the regional championship. The regional champion will advance to the NCAA Team Championship which will take place May 18-23 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
