Women’s Swimming Team Finishes Third at MIAC Championships

The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team finished third at the MIAC Championships which were held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. The Gusties won four individual event titles and three relay titles.

The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team finished third at the MIAC Championships which were held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. The Gusties won four individual event titles and three relay titles.

Gustavus event champions on Saturday included Eva Miller in the 200-yard breaststroke and the 400 free relay team of Katie Garvey, Laurie Decknatel, Laura Watkins, and Beth DeLaRosby in a ncaa automatic qualifying and MIAC meet record time of 3:30.62.

Top performances for the Gusties over the three day meet included:
Beth DeLaRosby finishing second in the 50 free and automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

Eva Miller winning the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke.

200-yard medley relay team of Sara Pfau, Eva Miller, Katie Garvey, Beth DeLaRosby that won in a MIAC record time and NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:47.12.

The 200-yard free relay team of Beth DeLaRosby, Katie Garvey, Laurie Decknatel and Laura Watkins that won in a MIAC record time and NCAA Automatic qualifying time of 3:56.99.

The 400-free relay team of Katie Garvey, Laurie Decknatel, Laura Watkins, and Beth DeLaRosby finishing first in a MIAC meet record time and NCAA Automatic qualifying time of 3:30.62.

Final Team Scores: St. Olaf (777), Carleton (668.5), Gustavus 652.5), Macalester (351), St. Ben’s (269), Concordia (239), Hamline (230), St. Kate’s (172), St. Thomas (168), St. Mary’s (93), and Augsburg (81).
