Men’s Nordic Skiing Set to Compete in NCAA Qualifier

The Gustavus men’s nordic skiing team will travel to Camp Ripley near Little Falls, Minn. to compete in the fourth NCAA qualifier of the season on February 12-13. The race was moved from Greystone Complex in St. Cloud due to poor snow conditions.

The Gustavus men’s nordic skiing team will travel to Camp Ripley near Little Falls, Minn. to compete in the fourth NCAA qualifier of the season on February 12-13. The race was originally slated to be held at the Graystone Nordic Ski Complex in St. Cloud, but limited snow conditions, have forced the race to be moved north to the Camp Ripley trails.

The Gusties return to action after a week off from competition. Coach Jed Friedrich’s squad competed January 29-30 at the Telemark Resort in Cable, Wis. Gustavus compiled 60 team points to place sixth out of nine teams at the third NCAA qualifier of the season.

Junior Andy Rishavy paced the Gusties in the 10k classic race on Saturday, January 29. Rishavy recorded a time of 36:59.65 to place 25th overall. Gustavus finished seventh out of nine teams in the classic race with 27 points.

Senior Erich Ziegler led the Gusties in the 15k freestyle race on Sunday, January 30. Ziegler placed 12th overall with a time of 37:26.06. Gustavus recorded 31 points in the freestyle race to place sixth out of nine teams.
