SAINT PETER, Minn. – D3football.com released its 2022 Preseason All-Americans on Monday and Gustavus linebacker Carson Dekam (Jr., Owatonna) has been selected to the Third Team Defense.
Dekam, who earned D3football.com All-Region 6 Second Team and MIAC First Team Defense in 2021, made an immediate impact in his first collegiate season, leading the team with 70 tackles (41 solo), including 7.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, four fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and a 28-yard interception return. Dekam played in integral role in the Gusties recording 27 sacks last season, the second most in the conference. Dekam was one of two sophomores on the All-Region Second Team Defense last season and is the only junior on the Preseason All-America Third Team Defense this season. Dekam is the first D3football.com Preseason All-American for Gustavus since Matthew Boyce in 2015.
Dekam and the Gusties kick off the 2022 season on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Buena Vista University.
