Women’s Hockey Dominant in Home Opener

No. 6-ranked Gustavus women’s hockey erupted for five third period goals Friday night in the home and MIAC opener, defeating St. Catherine 7-0 to improve to 3-0 overall.

Holtan Breaks Kills Record, Volleyball Wins 3-1 Over Chicago in NCAA Regional First Round

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Gustavus volleyball team stayed hot in its first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament in a 3-1 victory. The Gusties won the first set 25-16, dropped a 25-21 second set, and finished strong with a 25-22 third set and a 25-17 fourth. In her 22 kill performance, Kate Holtan (Sr., Rochester) broke the program kills record with 1,695 previously held by Val Flom with 1,684 (1983-86).

Embacher, Holtan Earn AVCA All-Region Honors

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its annual All-Region awards on Thursday and Gustavus is represented by Hailey Embacher (Sr., Mankato) and Kate Holtan (Sr., Rochester). 

Dobson, Schwartz Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team

Gustavus men’s soccer players Trace Dobson (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Cole Schwartz (Sr., Jakarta, Indonesia) have been selected to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, which was announced Thursday. Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Ashpole, Cocchiarella Named MIAC Women’s Soccer All-Conference

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its women's soccer postseason awards Wednesday and five Gusties were recognized. Katie Ashpole (Sr., Chaska) and Page Cocchiarella (Sr., Owatonna) were selected to the All-Conference Team, while Megan King (Jr., Savage) and Rachel Rehnelt (Sr., Albert Lea) were named honorable mention. 

Hecht Named MIAC Defensive Player of the Year, Gibbons and Anderson Earn All-Conference

Abegglen Earns Fourth MIAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week Honor

Andrew Abegglen (Jr., Mound) was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goal tries in Saturday's 29-14 win over St. Olaf. His field goals were of 32, 42, and 23 yards. The 42-yarder was his career-long. Abegglen is now one made field goal shy of tying the Gustavus program record for made field goals in a season (13).

Volleyball Heads to UW-Eau Claire for NCAA Regional, Will Face Chicago

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on Monday morning announced the 64-team field for its Division III Volleyball Championship and Gustavus (26-5) is selected to face the University of Chicago (17-9) in the first round of the regional tournament, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
