Men’s track and field student-athlete Taylor Rooney (Jr., Andover) and women’s hockey player Hailey Holland (Fy., Aberdeen, S.D.) have been named Gustavus Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Month, which is voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department and presented by Thrivent Financial.

Women’s Hockey Hosts Augsburg Saturday for MIAC Playoff Championship

No. 4 Gustavus women’s hockey is set to host the MIAC playoff championship game at 2 p.m. Saturday against No. 10 Augsburg. The Gusties (21-3-2) advanced to the title game with a 4-1 win over Saint Mary’s last Saturday while the Auggies (21-5-0) upset Hamline 2-1 on overtime.

The Gustavus men’s tennis team once again was named the Steve Wilkinson Team Sportsmanship Award winner for its outstanding ethics and attitude during the 20th ITA DIII National Men’s Team Indoors. The Golden Gusties are the only men’s team to win the Steve Wilkinson Award twice.

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its women’s basketball postseason awards Wednesday, with three Gusties receiving recognition. Caitlin Rorman (Fy., Blue Earth) and Ava Gonsorowski (Jr., Esko) were named All-Conference, with Rorman also gaining Rookie of the Year honors, while Paige Richert (Jr., Comfrey) was named honorable mention.
