KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches released its NCAA Division III All-America Teams on Thursday and Gustavus men’s soccer forward Cole Schwartz (So., Jakarta, Indonesia) is recognized as a First Team member.
Three days after receiving First Team All-North Region honors, Schwartz garners the 15th All-America award in program history and the second in as many years as Matt Gibbons was recognized in 2018 as a Second Team member. The Jakarta native posted 55 points on 24 goals and seven assists in his first season with the Gusties, becoming the fifth player in conference history to eclipse 50 points and the first since 1975. Schwartz’ 24 goals were the third most in the nation, while his 62 points were second. He was instrumental in Gustavus’s playoff run, notching a hat trick in the MIAC semifinals and scoring a goal in the championship game, before scoring a goal in the teams first round win over Colorado College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Schwartz is one of two players from the MIAC to earn All-America honors, as defender Halvor Houg of St. Thomas earned Second Team honors.
