Women’s Soccer Blanks Bethel 1-0

Katie Ashpole’s (Jr., Chaska) team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 60th minute Tuesday lifted the Gustavus women’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over Bethel. The victory snaps a five-game losing streak as the Gusties improve to 3-10 overall and 2-5 in the MIAC.

Women’s Soccer Hosts Bethel Tuesday

After four straight games on the road, the Gustavus women’s soccer team returns to the Gustie Soccer Field on Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff against Bethel. The Gusties enter the contest 2-10 overall and 1-5 in the MIAC, while the Royals are 10-2 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Raphael Cattelin (Fy., Edina) played an integral role this past week in the Gustavus men's soccer team's two conference victories and earned MIAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week honors for his play.

Josh Kirk (Sr., Garvin) hauled in the second most receiving yards in a game in Gustavus football history on Saturday as the team took down Concordia 35-28.

Double Overtime Goal Lifts Men’s Soccer Past Saint John’s

With time winding down in the second overtime and a tie on the horizon Scott Heinen (Jr., Aurora, Ill.) took a corner kick that found the head of Joe Brandel (Sr., St. Louis Park), who was able to direct it into the net for a Gustavus 3-2 win.

Volleyball Drops Two Matches at UW-Whitewater Tournament

The Gustavus volleyball team competed in their final two contests at the UW-Whitewater and fell to UW-La Crosse 3-2 before losing their second contest to UW-Stevens Point 3-1.

Women’s Soccer Downed 2-0 at Saint Ben’s

Playing in a wintery mix of snow and rain Saturday afternoon, the Gustavus women’s soccer team lost a 2-0 decision at Saint Benedict, falling to 2-10 overall and 1-5 in the MIAC. Saint Ben’s is now 7-2-2 overall and remains unbeaten in the league at 4-0-1.

Late Game Heroics Lead to Football’s First Road Win at Concordia Since 2010

Trailing by one with 30 seconds to play and the ball on its own 22 yard line, the odds were stacked against the Gustavus football team. Michael Veldman (Sr., Becker) took a snap and ended up scrambling left from the pocket before unleashing a deep ball on the run that traveled 50 yards in the air and was caught by Josh Kirk (Sr., Garvin) on the left sideline, which he was able to take in for the score.

Men’s Soccer Postponed to Sunday

The Gustavus men's soccer teams contest at Saint John's today has been postponed due to snow and will be played tomorrow at 3 p.m. Depending on field conditions the game may be moved to the College of Saint Benedict.

Volleyball Falls to No. 9 UW-Whitewater

The Gustavus volleyball team traveled to UW-Whitewater for their first of three contests this weekend and fell to the No. 9 Warhawks 3-0. With the loss the Gusties fall to 10-10 overall while UW-Whitewater advances to 16-3.
