KENOSHA, Wis. – The Gustavus women’s soccer team Friday started its 2019 campaign with a 1-0 loss at Carthage College.
After a scoreless first period that saw Carthage outshoot the Gusties 12-3, Libby Snyder scored the game’s lone goal on a corner kick in the 51st minute. Gustavus had a few opportunities late in the game but were unable to get one past the goalkeeper.
The Lady Reds outshot the Gusties 19-7 and had seven corner kick chances compared to just one by the visitors.
In her first collegiate game action since 2017, Ashley Becker (Sr., Farmington, Minn.) made five saves in net.
There were no cautions in the contest.
Gustavus next travels to Loras at 3 p.m. Sunday.
