GREENWOOD, Ind. – The 2019 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud Academic All-District Softball Teams are released and Gustavus junior Aly Freeman (Omaha, Neb.) is named to the 11-member District 6 Team, which features student-athletes from institutions in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Freeman, a biology major with a 4.00 GPA, recently earned her first All-Conference honor after being named honorable mention last season. Freeman, who was named to the All-Conference team as a pitcher, had a successful season as one of the team’s two primary pitchers, as well as a hitter in the middle of the lineup. On the mound, Freeman compiled an 8-9 record overall, pitching 101.2 innings, posting an ERA of 2.96, and striking out 70 batters. At the plate, the Omaha native hit .349 while slugging a team-leading .670. The power threat was tied for the MIAC lead with eight home runs and she also posted a team-best 11 doubles and 30 RBI. Freeman also led the team with 11 multiple-hit games and nine multiple-RBI games. She played 17 games at pitcher and 18 at third base.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America honorees will be announced later this month.
