Neuenfeldt, Kammerer Named MIAC Softball Athletes of the Week

Gustavus softball student-athletes Ashley Neuenfeldt (So., Bloomington, Minn.) and Caitlin Kammerer (Jr., Watertown, Minn.) swept the MIAC’s weekly awards Monday. Neuenfeldt was named Pitcher of the Week and Kammerer earned Player of the Week.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Gustavus softball student-athletes Ashley Neuenfeldt (So., Bloomington, Minn.) and Caitlin Kammerer (Jr., Watertown, Minn.) swept the MIAC’s weekly awards Monday. Neuenfeldt was named Pitcher of the Week and Kammerer earned Player of the Week.

Neuenfeldt appeared in five of the six Gustavus contests in Tucson, Ariz. last week, recording three wins, three complete games, and one save during her time in the circle. The sophomore struck out 22 batters in 24 innings of work, allowing just three earned runs on 14 hits.

Kammerer had a hit in all six of the Gusties’ games in Tucson last week and batted in the game-winning scores in both of the team’s one-run victories. The junior outfielder is 9-for-18 on the trip with five runs batted in, racking up three triples and a team-leading 10 runs scored along the way.

The MIAC awards mark the first weekly honor garnered by a Gustavus softball player since Hannah Heacox ’17 on April 11, 2016.
