BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has named Tanner Sonnek (Sr., North Mankato, Minn.) its Men’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Gustie Challenge last Friday and Saturday.

Sonnek finished his last home meet at Gustavus in style with two individual wins along with a relay team win. The senior has made a name for himself with his statement victories in the breaststroke events and he built on that reputation last weekend. Sonnek won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.38 and then made his mark in his final individual event ever in Vic Gustafson pool when he won the 200 breaststroke by nearly nine seconds with a time of 2:04.98, which was good for the top time in the MIAC this season and set the pool record by nearly two seconds in the process.
