SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s basketball will travel to St. Paul on Wednesday night to take on Macalester for a 7 p.m. contest. The Gusties and Scots both enter the contest 2-4 overall and 0-2 in MIAC play.
Hanson Eyes 500th Win
Gustavus Head Coach Mark Hanson currently holds a 499-267 overall record in 29 seasons at the helm. He is looking to become the 16th active NCAA Division III coach to reach 500 wins and the 47th all time.
The Series
Wednesday’s game marks the 158th meeting between Gustavus and Macalester on the hardwood, with the Gusties holding a 103-54 advantage in the all-time series. The two teams previously met in St. Peter, Minn. Feb. 7, 2018, with GAC prevailing with a 103-59 victory.
Scouting the Scots
Macalester comes into the contest looking to notch it’s first win at home this season as they are currently 0-4 at home and 2-0 on the road. The Scots are led offensively by the duo of Jackson Henningfield and Wyatt Ferm who average 21.3 and 15.7 points respectively. Ferm also leads the team with 11.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.9 steals per contest. As a team the Scots are shooting 44.0 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from beyond the arc.
