KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches released its NCAA Division III All-America Teams on Thursday and Gustavus men’s soccer forward Matt Gibbons (So., Minneapolis, Minn.) is recognized as a Second Team member.
Three days after receiving First Team All-North Region honors, Gibbons earns the 14th All-America award in program history and first since David Lilly in 2014. The Minneapolis native garnered MIAC All-Conference with a league-leading 25 points on seven goals and 11 assists. Gibbons also led the conference with 62 shots and tallied four game-winning goals. He was instrumental in the game-winning goal to clinch the MIAC championship at Macalester with a free kick assist.
Gibbons is one of five players in the MIAC to earn All-America honors. Defender Mark Roth and forward Marco da Cunha, both of Carleton, join Gibbons on the Second Team, while defender Daniel Hedstrom of Augsburg and midfielder Will Kidd of St. Thomas are on the Third Team.
