GREENWOOD, Ind. – The 2018 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Teams are released and Gustavus junior Luke Laurich (Batavia, Ill.) is named to the 12-member District 6 Team, which features student-athletes from institutions in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The Google Cloud Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Laurich, a Biology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology double major, boasts a 3.92 GPA and is a key member of a Gustavus team that captured its record 15th Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships this season. Laurich, a midfielder, ranks third on the team with 11 points on four goals and three assists. He also has one game-winning goal and was named MIAC All-Conference honorable mention. The Gusties received an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships and begin play Saturday against Dominican (Ill.) at the Decorah, Iowa Regional.
This year’s CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Team includes three other members from MIAC institutions – Kamran Kelly and Mark Roth of Carleton, and Jackson White of Macalester.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later next month.
