Women’s Soccer Heads to Northwestern Thursday Posted on September 13th, 2018 by

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s soccer team will look to bounce back on Thursday night versus Northwestern at 7 p.m. following a tough 2-1 overtime loss to Wartburg on Sunday. The Gusties sit at 2-2 on the season while Northwestern is 1-2-2.

Scouting the Gusties: Gustavus has seen their success this season behind a very balanced offensive attack and stout defense on the other end. The Gusties are led offensively by Emily Skogseth (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) and Abby Mullenbach (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) who each have two goals and one assist on the year. In the net, Abby Goodno (Fy., Little Canada, Minn.) has started three games, allowing just three goals and recording 22 saves. As a team this season, the Gusties are shooting an impressive 18.8 percent while holding opponents to a shot percentage of 7.1.

Scouting the Eagles: After two losses, and two ties to start the season, the Eagles got into the win column on Wednesday with a 3-2 win over Martin Luther College. Although they have only seen five shots hit the back of the net on the season, the Eagles are shooting an impressive average of 17 shots per game. Leading the Eagles attack is Emily Currie, who has tallied two of the team’s five goals on the season. Samantha Colombo has started all five games in net for the Eagles making 38 saves and allowing 8 goals.
