BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Athlete of the Week award winner for men’s tennis on Tuesday and Gustavus’s Mohanad Alhouni (Sr., Tripoli, Libya) was honored with the distinction.
The honor stands as Alhouni’s second of the season and the ninth of his career.
No. 8-ranked Gustavus defeated No. 40-ranked Carleton 8-1 for their 300th consecutive MIAC regular season victory on Saturday. The streak started in 1986 when Ronald Reagan held office and is 12 years older than the oldest student-athlete on the current roster.
Alhouni won both his matches at the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles positions against top-five regionally ranked opponents, improving his singles record to 23-7 overall and doubles to 18-3.
The Gusties (17-8, 5-0 MIAC) wrap up their regular season schedule this weekend, traveling to face Macalester and Hamline on Friday prior to hosting St. Thomas on Saturday.
