ST. PETER, Minn. – After nearly three weeks away from competition, the Gustavus softball team returns to the diamond this week under the sunny Arizona skies as it will participate in the Tucson Invitational Thursday through Monday. The Gusties, who started the season 1-3 with games at the Rochester Regional Bubble Feb. 24-25, will play 10 games in five days.

After four games, Ashley Neuenfeldt (Fy., Bloomington, Minn.) leads the team both at the plate and in the circle. Neuenfeldt has six hits and a .500 batting average, along with two stolen bases. On the pitching rubber, Neuenfeldt has a 2.57 ERA after 14 innings of work with 10 strikeouts and two walks. Marissa Marsolek (Fy., Savage, Minn.) also has a .500 batting average with three hits. As a team, the Gusties are hitting .247 with seven extra-base hits and nine RBI. The pitching staff has a 7.12 ERA and a 3:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio after 24 innings.
