BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award this afternoon, with Riley Sharbono (Jr., Marshall, Minn.) earning the weekly honor.
Gustavus extended its winning streak to five games last week, earning a 64-62 comeback victory on Wednesday prior to a 65-59 win over Hamline University at Gus Young Court on Saturday, led by a 17.5 points per game average from Sharbono.
The Gustie’s leading scorer receives his first MIAC player of the week accolade after 35 points, 15 rebounds, and a 44.4 field goal percentage through two games. At Augsburg, Sharbono led the Black and Gold with 22 points and a season-high three three-point field goals with a 9-for-11 clip at the charity stripe. He was clutch at the free throw line again on against the Pipers, going 6-6 at the line, headlined by a pair with 20 seconds to play to seal the win.
Next up, Gustavus heads to St. Paul, Minn. to face the University of St. Thomas Wednesday evening.
