Cross Country Travels To Saint John’s For Final Tune Up Before NCAA Regional

The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete in their final tune up Friday before the NCAA regional meet, taking part in the Saint John’s Fall Finale. The 5k meet begins at 5 p.m. in Collegeville, Minn. In addition to the Gusties, the field includes hosts Saint John’s and Saint Benedict, as well as Bethel, Crown, Hamline, Martin Luther, Minnesota, Minnesota-Morris, North Dakota State, St. Cloud State, and South Dakota State.

Holtan, Parens Named October Student-Athletes Of The Month

Volleyball hitter Kate Holtan (Fy., Rochester, Minn.) and men's soccer forward Arthur Parens (Jr., Wayzata, Minn.) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College October Female and Male Student-Athletes-of-the-Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.

Mohanad Alhouni (Sr., Tripoli, Libya) was defeated in the singles round of 64 Wedneday afternoon at the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort.

Another Upset, Women’s Soccer Takes Down St. Thomas On Penalty Kicks

Double overtime wasn’t enough to decide a winner in Wednesday’s MIAC women’s soccer semifinal playoff match. Tied 1-1 after 110 minutes and forced to penalty kicks, Gustavus keeper Ashley Becker (Jr., Farmington, Minn.) came up big with two stops and the Gusties, seeded No. 6, made all four attempts to upset No. 2 seed St. Thomas and advance to the MIAC championship game for the second time in three seasons.

Men’s Soccer Season Ends In MIAC Playoff Semifinal Loss To Macalester

The Gustavus men's soccer team had its season come to an end with a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff semifinal loss versus Macalester College, falling 1-0 on a frigid Wednesday afternoon at Gustie Soccer Field.

Trio Of Gusties Headline MIAC Volleyball Awards

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2017 Volleyball Awards on Wednesday and Gustavus took home four All-Conference awards, as well as the top honor of Player of the Year, the Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and the Rookie of the Year. Nora Holtan (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) received her second-straight MIAC Player of the Year award, Brittany Luethmers (So., Prior Lake, Minn.) earned Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors, and Kate Holtan (Fy., Rochester, Minn.) was named the Rookie of the Year. Hanna Albers (Jr., St. Louis, Mo.) joins the trio on the 2016 All-Conference Team.
