BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its men’s soccer Athlete of the Week award this afternoon, with Gustavus senior midfielder Alex Wilson (Ashland, Wis.) and Daniel Bruckbauer of Saint John’s earning co-athlete of the week honors.
The Gusties closed out the 2017 regular season last week with their third and fourth consecutive shutouts, defeating Hamline University and Macalester College en route to earning a first round bye and the No. 2 seed in the MIAC Playoffs.
Wilson led the Gustavus attack, recording the game-winner in Tuesday’s victory at Hamline to secure a home postseason matchup, along with a second game-winning goal versus Macalester on Saturday. The goals stood as his second and third game-winners on the season.
Gustavus hosts the highest remaining seed in a MIAC Semifinal matchup Wednesday afternoon at Gustie Soccer Field.
