Nora Holtan Named MIAC Volleyball Setter Of The Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Volleyball Athlete of the Week awards this afternoon, with Gustavus setter Nora Holtan (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) earning the Setter of the Week honor.   

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Volleyball Athlete of the Week awards this afternoon, with Gustavus setter Nora Holtan (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) earning the Setter of the Week honor.   

Holtan helped set up the Gustavus offense to a 4-0 week as the team improved its winning-streak to six games and its overall record to 19-3 on the season. Prior to sweeping St. Olaf College on Wednesday, the Black and Gold went unbeaten at the Wartburg College Invitational, defeating Wisconsin-La Crosse, Wartburg, and Luther College.

In four matches, Holtan guided the Gustie attack, compiling 165 assists to average 11.8 per set. In each match against St. Olaf and Wartburg, Holtan notched seven kills and zero errors for attacking clips of .583 and .412. She also opened the Wartburg Invite with double-doubles in two consecutive matches. Additionally, Holtan tallied 39 digs and six blocks throughout the week. For her performance, Holtan earned a spot on the Wartburg Invite All-Tournament Team.

This week’s award stands as Holtan’s seventh career Setter of the Week honor, and her first during the 2017 season.

Gustavus returns to action on Wednesday for a conference matchup versus the University of St. Thomas. The Gusties entertain the Tommies at 7 p.m. at Gus Young Court.
