Murakami Named MIAC Men’s Soccer Athlete Of The Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its men’s soccer Athlete of the Week award this afternoon, with Gustavus senior midfielder Matt Murakami (Eden Prairie, Minn.) receiving the honor after tallying three games in two games.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its men’s soccer Athlete of the Week award this afternoon, with Gustavus senior midfielder Matt Murakami (Eden Prairie, Minn.) receiving the honor after tallying three games in two games.

The Gusties posted two 2-1 road victories last week, defeating St. Olaf College and Augsburg University. On Wednesday at St. Olaf, Murakami got the scoring started for the Gusties with his first goal of the season, heading in a corner kick. During the following matchup at Augsburg on Saturday, Murakami registered his third two-goal game of his career to guide the Black and Gold to victory over the Auggies.

Gustavus returns to action at on Tuesday for a non-conference match at Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D.
