ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s soccer team is set for a battle of the top two teams in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday as it travels to first place Augsburg. The contest will be played under the lights, starting at 7:30 p.m. The Gusties enter the match with a 6-2-1 overall record and 3-1 mark in the MIAC (tied for second place), while the Auggies are 5-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the league.
Scouting the Gusties: Gustavus is coming off a 3-1 victory at St. Olaf Wednesday. Hannah Sturtz (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.), Abby Mullenbach (So., Lakeville, Minn.), and Judith Hepburn (So., North Pole, Alaska) scored the Gustie goals, while Ashley Becker (Jr., Farmington, Minn.) made three saves in her eighth complete game. After nine games this season, Chase Miller (Jr., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) leads the team with eight points on three goals and two assists. Sturtz is close behind with seven points on three goals and one assits. Sophie Leininger (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) leads the team with four assists. Becker has started all nine games between the posts with a 0.77 goals against average (3rd/MIAC) and .863 save percentage (3rd/MIAC).

Scouting the Auggies: Augsburg’s streak of six games without a loss was snapped Wednesday as it dropped a 1-0 decision to UW-Eau Claire. It was the first time the Auggies were shut out this season as they average 2.88 goals per game. After eight games this season, Ashley St. Aubin leads the MIAC with 21 points on 10 goals and one assist. Clara Gregory is second on the team with six goals and one assist for 13 points. Emily Chapman and Marissa Guillou have split time in goal. Chapman has a 1.00 goals against average and .846 save percentage, while Guillou has a 0.95 goals against average and .846 save percentage.
