GREENWOOD, Ind. – The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Teams were released Thursday and Gustavus senior Lauren Kershner (Marine, Ill.) was named to the 11-member District 6 Team, which features student-athletes from Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Kershner boasts a 3.91 GPA majoring in biology and mathematics and was a key member of the Gustavus gymnastics team over the past four seasons. Kershner earned All-America honors after taking 10th place in the all-around at the NCGA Championships with a score of 36.750. She was also honored as a NCGA All-American in Academics. The Marine, Ill. native posted the third highest balance beam score in program history (9.675) at the WIAC Championships and earned All-Conference honors. During her four-year career, Kershner helped the Gusties record eight of the top 10 scores in program history.
This year’s CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Team includes two other members from MIAC institutions – Emma Paulson of St. Thomas (swimming) and fellow Gustie Katie Aney (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) (tennis).
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
