ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s tennis team saved its best match of the season for last, ending the regular season with a 7-2 win over previously unbeaten St. Thomas. The win improves the Gusties to 17-7 overall and 9-1 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Tommies fall to 14-1 overall and 8-1 in the league.

“We played our best match of the season today and that was awesome to see,” Head Coach Jon Carlson said. “Now we’ll get back to practice and prepare for the MIAC playoffs.”

Carleton has secured at least a share of the MIAC regular season championship with a 9-0 record. The Knights square off against St. Thomas tomorrow and a Tommie win would mean a three-way tie for the conference title between the Knights, Gusties, and Tommies. [UPDATE: Carleton defeated St. Thomas, meaning Gustavus is the No. 2 seed and will host a MIAC semifinal match at 3:30 p.m. Friday]
