AUSTIN, Texas. – The No. 19-ranked Gustavus men’s tennis team dropped another two matches Monday during day two of its spring trip. The Gusties were defeated by No. 4-ranked Middlebury College 7-2 and Mary Hardin-Baylor 5-4, moving its overall record to 17-7 on the season.
“I was proud of how the guys competed today,” said Head Coach Tommy Valentini. “We faced tough competition and made some good strides. We had our entire roster in action at virtually the same time again today and everyone gave a great effort and did well to handle what was within their control. Our doubles was strong against Middlebury and we handled ourselves well against their talented singles lineup. Against MHB we had a tough start in the doubles but fought hard until the end in the singles. We had a great look at both matches despite the score lines. We’ll to continue to work to make more progress heading into Wednesday.”
