Men’s Tennis Drops Two Tight Matches In Texas

The No. 19-ranked Gustavus men’s tennis team was defeated by No. 16 Trinity University and Our Lady of the Lake to open its spring trip on Sunday.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – The No. 19-ranked Gustavus men’s tennis team was defeated by No. 16 Trinity University and Our Lady of the Lake to open its spring trip on Sunday.

The Gusties, now 17-5 overall, lost both matches by scores of 5-4.

“The guys competed very well today,” said Head Coach Tommy Valentini. “Conditions were very challenging at both sites today, and we showed great resolve to compete at a high level. We’re continuing to build trust in our game and made good progress today. We translated our doubles to the outdoors nicely, and in the singles we were poised and tough.”

“It’s obviously tough to be on the losing end of two 5-4 decisions, but the guys handled what was within their control beautifully and never went away,” commented Valentini. “We now turn our attention to recovery as we prepare for another challenging day tomorrow.”
