BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Gustavus men’s tennis player Mohanad Alhouni (Jr., Tripoli, Libya) got off to a great start in 2017 as the Gusties opened against three nationally-ranked opponents. Alhouni went 2-1 in singles play, including a pair of straight-sets wins against nationally-ranked foes, and he also went 2-1 in doubles matches against No. 24 Whitman, No. 31 Pacific and No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer. Alhouni’s singles wins were 6-4, 6-2, against Whitman’s No. 40-ranked player, and 7-6, 6-1, against the nation’s No. 38-ranked player from Pomona Pitzer. As a team, the Gusties went 1-2, defeating Pacific and losing to Whitman and Pomona-Pitzer.
