WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Gustavus men’s tennis team fell by a score of 6-3 to Whitman College in its 2017 spring season opener. The No. 20 ranked Gusties notched two singles wins and one doubles win while No. 24 ranked Whitman claimed four singles wins and two doubles victories.
“The guys competed hard and the right way today,” said Head Coach Tommy Valentini. “We had a number of guys stepping into new roles and although we came up just short against a strong team, I was pleased with how our young guys responded and how our leaders communicated trust in our approach. We have a lot to build on for the long term and an exciting and challenging series of opportunities ahead of us tomorrow.”
