BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Gustavus sophomore Tanner Sonnek (North Mankato, Minn.) turned in a record-setting performance at the University of Minnesota’s Jean Freeman Invitational to win his second-straight MIAC weekly award. Sonnek broke his own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.12, which resulted in a second-place finish. He also finished seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.08) and eighth in the 200-yard IM (2:02.21) in a top-notch field that included Division I and II teams. Sonnek is currently ranked No. 1 in the MIAC in both the 100- and 200-breast events, and third in the 200-IM.
