Women’s Cross Country Takes Third at SJU Fall Finale

The Gustavus women’s cross country team took a third place finish of five teams at the Saint John’s Fall Finale Friday evening.

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s cross country team took a third place finish of five teams at the Saint John’s Fall Finale Friday evening.

The Gusties totaled 63 points and had an average time of 22:12.2. The College of Saint Benedict finished in first place while Bethel University edged the Gusties by just one point to take a runner-up finish.

Hayley Anderson (Fy., Eden Prairie, Minn.) owned the top finish for the Black and Gold, posting a time of 21:22 to finish in 13th place out of 60 competitors.

Ester Archer (Fy., North Mankato, Minn.) crossed the finish line next for the Gusties at 21:51, good for a 16th place finish. Lydia Hayes (Jr., Decorah, Iowa) finished just a second behind Archer at 21:52 to record a career-best time.

Friday’s meet served as the final tune up before Gustavus prepares for the NCAA Regionals in Northfield, Minn., November 12.
