Women’s Soccer Heads To St. Kate’s For MIAC Playoff Quarterfinal

The Gustavus women’s soccer team heads to St. Paul, Minn. Tuesday afternoon for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinal playoff matchup against St. Catherine University.

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s soccer team heads to St. Paul, Minn. Tuesday afternoon for a  Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinal playoff matchup against St. Catherine University.

The 11-5-1 (6-4-1 MIAC) Wildcats host the 10-6-2 (6-5 MIAC) Gusties at 2 p.m.

Last time out

The Gusties fell by a score of 1-0 in double overtime Saturday at Hamline University to close out regular season play. With the loss Gustavus finished the regular season with a record of 6-5 in league play to finish fifth place in the MIAC and received the No. 5 seed for playoffs.

The series

Saturday’s game marks the 17th all-time meeting between Gustavus and St. Catherine. The Gusties faced the Wildcats just two weekends ago and escaped with a 4-2 win. The Black and Gold own an all-time record of 9-5-2 over St. Kate’s.

For the foes

St. Kate’s is coming off two consecutive shutouts over Saint Mary’s University and Concordia College, earning the No. 4 seed for the MIAC playoffs. Senior Hannah Okerstrom leads the Wildcats and finished the regular season as the MIAC leader in shots with 102. Okerstrom also ranked tied for second in the league with 12 goals.
