Women’s Soccer Heads To UW-Stout

The Gustavus women’s soccer team continues non-conference play as it travels to Menomonie, Wis. Wednesday night to take on the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s soccer team continues non-conference play as it travels to Menomonie, Wis. Wednesday night to take on the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

The 5-7-1 (2-2 WIAC) Blue Devils host the 7-5-2 (4-4 MIAC) Gusties at 7 p.m. at Nelson Field.

Gustavus had a two-game win streak broken with a non-conference loss to the hands of Wartburg College on Sunday by a score of 3-0. Previously, the Gusties shut out Bethel University on Saturday, October 15. Maddison Ackiss (Sr., Fairbanks, Alaska) led Gustavus to victory with two goals. The two-goal game stood as her fifth multi-goal game of her career and the second this season. Ackiss leads the Black and Gold in scoring with five goals and three assists, along with 16 shots on goal. 

Wednesday’s game marks the 10th meeting between Gustavus and UW-Stout. The Gusties own a 4-3-2 all-time record over the Blue Devils. The Gusties last faced UW-Stout in 2014 and fell by a score of 6-2.

The Blue Devils of Wisconsin-Stout are currently riding a three-game winning streak, including a 1-0 win over the University of St. Thomas and a most recent overtime victory over the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh last Saturday. Sophomore Sydney Kasper leads the Blue Devils with six goals and one assist for 13 points and 18 shots on goal. First-year goalkeeper Lynn Johnson has started in all 13 games, owning a 1.10 goals against average along with a .829 save percentage.
