Heacox Throws No-Hitter, Softball Splits With Augsburg

The Gustavus softball team hosted its home opener Wednesday and came away with a split against Augsburg. Hannah Heacox (Jr., Stillwater, Minn.) threw a no-hitter in a five-inning 8-0 victory, but the Gusties dropped the nightcap 3-0. Gustavus moves to 14-8 overall and 5-3 in the MIAC, while the Auggies move to 15-11 overall and 4-4 in the league.

Softball Splits Makeup Series With Hamline

The Gustavus Adolphus College softball team split an MIAC doubleheader with Hamline on Tuesday afternoon at Meredith Field. The Gusties fell in game one 8-4, but bounced back with a strong 7-0 shutout of the Pipers in game two, handing Hamline its first conference loss of the season. With the split, Gustavus is now 13-7 overall and 4-2 in the MIAC, while the Pipers move to 12-8 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

Baseball Splits With Augsburg After Gutsy Game Two Victory

The Gustavus baseball team busted out the bats with 27 total hits Tuesday in a MIAC doubleheader against Augsburg. The Gusties lost game one 8-2, but came back to win game two 9-7, moving to 9-11 overall and 2-4 in the MIAC, while the Auggies move to 14-12 overall and 4-4 in the league.

Baseball Hosts Augsburg Tuesday In MIAC Doubleheader

The Gustavus baseball team looks to rebound Tuesday in a home doubleheader against Augsburg after a disappointing pair of losses against Hamline on Sunday. Tuesday’s MIAC doubleheader begins at 2:30 p.m. at the Gustie Baseball Field. The Gusties enter with an 8-10 overall record and 1-3 mark in the MIAC, while the Auggies are 13-11 overall and 3-3 in the league.

Heacox Earns Second Straight MIAC Softball Pitcher-Of-The-Week Award

Gustavus ace Hannah Heacox (Stillwater, Minn.) continued her brilliant start to the 2016 conference season in a sweep over Saint Benedict. The junior pitcher was the winner in both games, allowing just two earned runs (0.93 ERA) on 17 hits and one walk with 14 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched, including an outstanding eight-inning relief performance to help her team rally for a 10-inning win. For her performance the MIAC sports information directors honored Heacox Monday with her second-straight MIAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week award.

Softball Heads To St. Paul Tuesday To Face Hamline

The Gustavus softball team continues to roll through its MIAC schedule Tuesday as it travels to St. Paul for a doubleheader against Hamline beginning at 3:30 p.m. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, but was postponed due to inclement weather. The Gusties enter the contests with a 12-6 overall record and 3-1 mark in the MIAC, while the Pipers are 11-7 overall and 4-0 in the league.

Track & Field Teams Compete At CSB-SJU Outdoor Invite

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's and women's track and field teams each competed in the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University Outdoor Invitational on Sunday at the Saint John's University Track and Field Complex. The Gustie women tallied 13 top-5 finishes at the meet, while the men were close behind with 11 top-5 finishers of their own.

Heacox Shines In The Circle As Softball Sweeps Saint Ben’s 5-1, 10-8

The Gustavus softball team turned in an impressive day Sunday, sweeping Saint Benedict 5-1 and 10-8 in 10 innings to improve to 12-6 overall and 3-1 in the MIAC, while the Blazers fall to 13-9 overall and 1-3 in the league. Hannah Heacox (Jr., Stillwater, Minn.) earned both wins on the rubber, throwing 15 innings with two earned runs on 17 hits, including 14 strikeouts and one walk.

Baseball Swept By Hamline 4-3, 13-3

The Gustavus baseball team was swept by Hamline on Sunday at CHS Field, dropping the first game by a slim 4-3 decision, followed by a more convincing eight-inning 13-3 loss in the second game to move to 8-10 overall and 1-3 in the MIAC, while the Pipers improve to 14-8 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Men’s & Women’s Golf Teams Win Augsburg Invite, Brandt Is Men’s Individual Champion

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's and women's golf teams were able to maintain their respective leads from Day One, and each took home first place at the Augsburg Invite this past weekend. The men, who played at Pebble Creek Golf Course, scored a combined 594 (+18), while the women, who played at Les Bolstad Golf Course scored a total of 695 (+127). Senior Andrew Brandt (Medina, Minn.) highlighted the men's team finish with an individual championship after scoring a 69 in Sunday's final round.
