ST. PETER, Minn. – Saturday’s MIAC softball doubleheader in St. Paul features the league’s top two teams in No. 1 St. Thomas and No. 2 Gustavus. The Gusties enter with an 18-8 overall record and 9-3 mark in the MIAC, while the No. 13 nationally ranked Tommies enter at 27-5 overall and 14-2 in the league. Tomorrow’s doubleheader at South Field begins at 1 p.m.

Last season, the Gusties had the Tommies’ number by winning all four games played between the two squads. Gustavus won a pair of extra inning games in the regular season – 2-0 and 5-3 – on April 14 in St. Paul, followed by a pair of MIAC playoff victories resulting in the first MIAC playoff championship for Gustavus.
