WINONA, Minn. – Less than 24 hours after earning an 8-1 win over St. Catherine University, the Gustavus Adolphus College women’s tennis team earned a 9-0 victory over Saint Mary’s University in a match played Sunday morning at the Winona Indoor Tennis Center. The Gusties are now 14-6 overall and 5-0 in the MIAC.
“I’m proud of the way the team competed both last night and this morning,” said Coach Jon Carlson. “We knew we would be pushed in both matches, and I thought the team handled each of their individual situations well. We’re looking forward to taking this momentum into two more big matches this next weekend.”
Gustavus continues its stretch of conference play next weekend with two crucial league matches with St. Olaf and defending MIAC Playoff Champion St. Thomas. The Gusties head to Northfield for a Saturday matchup with the Oles at 1 p.m. before returning to St. Peter to face the Tommies at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
