Sarah Swanson Places 17th In Shot Put At NCAA Championships

Gustavus women’s track & field throwing specialist Sarah Swanson (Sr., Fairbanks, Alaska) took 17th place in the shot put Saturday at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Grinnell College. Swanson posted a mark of 12.21 meters (40-0.75) on her third toss after fouling on both the first and second throws.

SHOT PUT RESULTS

GRINNELL, Iowa – Gustavus women’s track & field throwing specialist Sarah Swanson (Sr., Fairbanks, Alaska) took 17th place in the shot put Saturday at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Grinnell College. Swanson posted a mark of 12.21 meters (40-0.75) on her third toss after fouling on both the first and second throws.

Kim Gallavan of Baldwin Wallace won the event with a facility-record throw of 14.71 meters. Monique Newton of Oberlin took second (14.59 meters) and Samantha Dolezal of Nebraska Wesleyan placed third (14.29 meters).

The indoor season is officially complete for Gustavus as it transitions to the outdoor season, which begins March 26 at the Point Loma Nazarine University Collegiate Invite in San Diego, Calif.
