A day after being named MIAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week, Jake Douglas (Sr., Montevideo, Minn.) garnered national recognition as a member of the D3football.com Team of the Week. Douglas was the top tight end in NCAA Divison III football last week as he caught nine passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns in the Gusties’ 58-34 win over St. Olaf. Douglas’ numbers against the Oles proved to be the highest marks by a Gustavus tight end in more than 35 years.
Entering last Saturday’s game, Douglas’ career number included 20 catches for 262 yards and three touchdowns. The Montevideo High School product now has 29 catches for 434 yards and six touchdowns.

National Rankings
In the national rankings, Gustavus remains one spot out of the D3football.com Top 25, receiving 48 votes, which are two behind the No. 25-ranked team. The Gusties’ opponent this week – Saint John’s – is ranked No. 14 at D3football.com.
In the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll, the Gusties jumped up three spots to No. 20 in this week’s rankings. Saint John’s is ranked No. 15 in the AFCA poll. Saturday’s game in Collegeville, Minn. is the only meeting this week between two teams in the AFCA Top 25.
