SAINT PETER, MINN. – A total of six Gustavus Adolphus men’s and women’s swimming and diving team members were recently named to the 2015 College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Individual Scholar All-American Team. The women’s team was represented by Michelle Campeau (Fy., Rochester, Minn.), Heather Funai (Sr., Lincolnwood, Ill.), Dani Klunk (Sr., Appleton, Wis.), Katie Olson (Sr., North Oaks, Minn.) and Jenny Strom (Sr., Rochester, Minn.), while the men’s team was represented by Zac Solis (Sr., Centennial, Colo.).
To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-American Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Selections were drawn from 284 colleges and universities, up from 243 in 2014.
“Our coaching staff continues to be so proud of how our team balances their performance in the classroom and their competitiveness in the pool,” said head coach Jon Carlson. “We try to stress to our kids that they are student-athletes, with student being the higher priority. It’s fantastic for these six to earn this type of award, as it shows that it is certainly possible to be a top-tier athlete, while maintaining the drive it takes to be a top-tier student as well.”
