NORTHFIELD, MINN. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team sits in fifth place following its first round of play at the Carleton Invite that began Saturday at the Northfield Golf Club. Gustavus tallied a 329 (+41) on the tournament’s first day, which puts them just six strokes behind host Carleton College who leads all teams with a 323 (+35).

The Gusties’ Jordy Drenttel (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) is tied for first place in the individual standings after scoring a four-over-par 76. Lauren Johnson (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) was next for the Gusties, scoring an 82 (+10), good for a tie for 14th place.

“Although we did not score like we had hoped to, we are still within striking range of winning this tournament tomorrow if we are able to put together a good day,” said assistant coach Randy Stuckey. “Jordy really put in a fine performance to lead the team and the entire tournament. Tomorrow looks like it will be a great day of competition to finish things up!”

Tomorrow’s second round will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Northfield Golf Club.
