Bloomington, Minn. – Gustavus Adolphus senior men’s tennis player Brad Entwistle (Sioux Falls, S.D.) has earned the honor of MIAC Athlete-of-the-Week, as voted on by the MIAC sports information directors. Locking down the No. 2 position in doubles and the No. 3 spot in singles, Entwistle went a perfect 4-0 on Saturday, March 7, helping the Gusties to pick up wins over No. 22 UW-Whitewater 7-2 and St. Olaf College 9-0.
Against one of Gustavus’s top regional contenders on Saturday morning, Entwistle first paired with Mohanad Al-Houni (Fr., Tripoli, Libya) in a 9-3 win over Cam Laktash and Zane Navratil. The senior then cruised to a straight set win in singles by taking down Navratil 6-4, 6-1.
In Gustavus’s nightcap against St. Olaf, the Entwistle/Al-Houni combination topped Keenan Glad-Brown and Matt Christensen 8-3 before Entwistle defeated Ben Carlson 6-3, 6-3.
The Sioux Falls, S.D. product is currently enjoying a four-match win-streak in doubles and a three-match win-streak in singles. He is 9-7 overall in singles play and 10-5 in doubles. Entwistle is the second Gustavus player to receive Athlete-of-the-Week honors this season, as Andres Saenz (So., Cancun, Mexico) took home the distinction on Feb. 24.
The Gustavus men’s tennis team’s 12-match homestand continues next weekend with a conference test against Hamline on Saturday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. The Gusties have won four in a row and are 7-5 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC.
