Women’s Hockey Moves To No. 5 In Most Recent USCHO And D3Hockey Polls

SAINT PETER, MINN. – Following a series sweep over St. Catherine University this past Friday and Saturday, the Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team jumped to No. 5 in both the USCHO and D3Hockey national women’s hockey polls that were released Monday. The Gusties were previously ranked No. 6 in last week’s USCHO poll and No. 7 in last week’s D3Hockey poll.

Adrian College, which held down the No. 5 position in both polls last week, tied with St. Norbert this past Friday and suffered its first defeat of the season in a 2-1 loss to No. 8 UW-Stevens Point on Saturday.

Gustavus is currently entrenched in a nine-game win streak dating back to Jan. 9 after most recently earning 4-1 and 1-0 victories over St. Kate’s. The Gusties will face last season’s MIAC champion University of St. Thomas in a home-home series next weekend. Game one will take place on Friday, Feb. 13 at St. Thomas Ice Arena in St. Paul, while game two will be played on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at Don Roberts Ice Rink.
