ST. PETER, MINN. – Following a series sweep over Augsburg College this past Friday and Saturday, the Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team has maintained its No. 6 ranking in the most recent USCHO poll that was released Monday.
The Gusties rolled to a 5-0 victory over the Auggies on Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink, but were forced to make a comeback on Saturday at Ed Saugestad Rink in Minneapolis. Gustavus found itself down 1-0 with 7:56 remaining in the game, but Carolyn Draayer (Sr., Deephaven, Minn.) tied it up with her fourth goal of the series. Five minutes later, Rachel Skoglund (Fy., Forest Lake, Minn.) played hero when she scored the game-winner with just 2:58 remaining in the game to permanently give Gustavus a 2-1 lead and the series sweep.
Only two teams moved places in this week’s poll. Amherst College moved up one place to No. 8, while UW-Stevens Point dropped one to No. 9. Every other team maintained its ranking from last week.
