Bloomington, Minn.  – Gustavus senior Jennifer Strom (Rochester, Minn./Century) continued her record-breaking final season by leading her team to a decisive 210-88 dual win over MIAC foe Carleton while breaking a pair of pool records in the process. Strom won all three of her individual events and took down two Thorpe Pool records and also helped the Gusties swim to victory in one relay race. For her performance, the MIAC sports information directors honored Strom Tuesday with her third consecutive MIAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Athlete-of-the-Week award.

Strom was spectacular in her first post-Holiday competition, as she won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.19, the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:25.60 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:11.92. Her times in both the 200-breast and 200-IM both set new standards for the Carleton pool. She also helped the 200-yard medley relay team finish first with a winning time of 1:50.33. Strom currently holds the MIAC’s top time this season in four different events – the 500-yard freestyle, the 100-breast, the 200-breast and the 400-yard individual medley.

The Gusties hope for continued excellence from their team and their senior star as they look forward to an exciting weekend ahead. Gustavus will travel to Grinnell, Iowa, to participate in the two-day Grinnell Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The team will return home to host its next meet – a highly anticipated dual with MIAC foe St. Thomas on Jan. 24.
