Bloomington, Minn. – Thanks to her performance at the Jean Freeman Invitational held Friday and Saturday at the Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota, senior swimmer Jennifer Strom (Rochester, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete-of-the-Week for the second time this year.
Against a field made up of NCAA Division I, II, and III competition, Strom continued to prove herself as one of the top competitors the MIAC has to offer. Over the course of the two-day meet, Strom made the finals in three individual events and contributed to the top five finishes of three relays.
At the individual level, the Rochester, Minnesota product finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.56, seventh in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 4:36.33, eighth in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:36.33, and added a ninth place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:07.10. In all four of those events, Strom was the top Division III swimmer and was beaten by only Division I opponents. Her times in all four events were season-bests and are currently the top marks in the MIAC. She also achieved the NCAA B cut standard in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and 400 IM.
Strom also was also a member of the second place 800-free relay (7:46.01), third place 400-medley relay (3:55.79), and fifth place 200-medley relay (1:46.14). All three relay performances are tops in the MIAC this season. The 200-medley relay team also achieved an NCAA B cut.

The Gusties will go on their Puerto Rico Training Trip Dec. 27 through Jan. 4 before returning to the waters of Minnesota for a dual at Carleton College beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Jan. 9.
